NZD $1,400
Te mea nui- The most important thing.
Aotea- Fucshite and Kyanite.
In all the world, what is the most important thing to you? Whakataukī (Māori proverb) says “He tangata, he tangata, he tangata! it is people it is people.” When we work to bring life into our world through shared participation the result is the joining of ancestors through our children. An AAA quality Aotea stone of exceptional colour and beauty. A unique and detailed taonga (treasure) that celebrates family.
Already Ancient Aotearoa hand carve all their pieces in Aotearoa NZ. No two stones are the same!
Ko te mea nui began its shape as a pōria (the leg ring for a pet bird). This concept was to convey sentiments of affection in the sense that the pōria (if made for a lover) might keep our loved one close to us bound within the symbol of a ring. From there the pōria design turned to the concept of Tiki and the double 1/2 faced Tiki.
It was told to us that Tiki represents not one full face but 2 half faces performing a hōngi (greeting by the touching of noses). Within that understanding we see the masculine and feminine sides join to create a whole person, greeting each other in the space of affection.
Here the joining of masculine and feminine creates the whole "new being", the "divine being" being represented as a baby.
