Piritahi- Joint Together
Aotea- Tremolite, Kyanite, Fuchsite.- Tai Poutini, South Westland
This unique Aotea stone hides its colour creating a look of shadow and dark evening light until we hold the stone up. When back light, Piritahi revels the true colours and magic of Aotea where rich blues and greens shout their presence in a loud voice reserved only for those we wish to share with. An intimate piece that speaks of the depths of friendship and trust and the shelter they bring.
Already Ancient Aotearoa hand make all our stones in Aotearoa NZ. No two stones are the same!
Two friends enjoy the intimacy of night to share space, to share company whilst feeling the comfort and joy of friendship. Piritahi offers us a peek at two friends sitting in a space of intimate connection and ease.
(like Ko te Mea Nui) Piritahi follows on with the concept of pōria (bird snare) being used to snare a loved one.
The hōngi (touching of noses) is a symbolic greeting representing "eye to eye/ forehead to forehead" acceptance of one and other. The sharing of sacred breath through the nose.
It has been said that when two people meet using the hōngi they have become a representation of the divine. We created Piritahi to remember a best friend.
